A resolution before the Anchorage Assembly would protest the state liquor license renewal for Crazy Horse Gentleman's Club on Gambell Street until the Anchorage Fire Department certifies the premises. The Assembly is set to hold a public hearing on the measure Wednesday, Nov. 4.

Assembly Chair Anna Brawley submitted the resolution, a conditional protest of the club's beverage dispensary license. Fire certification is the only outstanding item in the Municipal Clerk's report. The club owes no municipal taxes, and its special land use permit is approved. Land Use Enforcement, the Anchorage Police Department, the Anchorage Health Department and the Building Safety Official have all signed off.

The protest would let the state Alcohol and Marijuana Control Office hold the license under local protest. Once fire certification arrives, the clerk can notify that office the protest is lifted, without further Assembly action.

The state renewal notice says the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board will not grant or deny the renewal unless the local government waives its right to protest.

The clerk received a copy of the application Sept. 14. The Assembly has 60 days to protest, and the clerk set Nov. 13 as the last day. The Nov. 4 meeting is the last regular Assembly meeting before that deadline. The hearing gives the club's owner, CH1 LLC, a chance to defend its application before the Assembly acts.

At the same meeting, the Assembly will take up a conditional protest of the Eagle River Alehouse package store renewal until the business pays taxes it owes the municipality. It is also set to waive its right to protest renewals for 13 other Anchorage establishments.

Brawley earlier proposed a similar conditional protest of Circle K's transfer of four package store licenses, also pending fire department certification.
