Anchorage Assembly to weigh protest of Eagle River bowling alley liquor license transfer

A missing health certification is holding up the sale of a liquor license at The Homestead Lounge in Eagle River. The Anchorage Assembly is scheduled Tuesday to enter a conditional protest on the transfer of beverage dispensary license No. 2895, with a bowling alley endorsement, from Eagle River Bowl, LLC to G4, LLC at 12130 Regency Dr.

The Anchorage Health Department has not certified the transfer, the last unmet requirement under municipal rules. The municipal clerk reports the applicant owes no taxes to the Municipality of Anchorage. The Special Land Use Permit is approved, and certifications from Land Use Enforcement and the Anchorage Police Department are in hand. Municipal health guidance requires a health permit application to be approved at least seven days before a change of ownership takes effect.

If the Assembly approves the protest, it will hold state processing at the Alcohol and Marijuana Control Office until the health certification arrives. The municipal clerk can then lift the protest without further Assembly action. The application also remains before the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, which will decide whether to approve the transfer.

The clerk received the application July 7, setting a Sept. 5 protest deadline. Tuesday's meeting is the Assembly's last regular meeting before that deadline, and the resolution sets a public hearing where the applicant may defend the transfer. A pending protest could delay the license G4, LLC needs to operate the lounge under new ownership.
