An Anchorage cannabis grower's license renewal turns on a $12,760 tax bill

The Anchorage Assembly is set Tuesday to withhold its consent to a marijuana grower's state license renewal until the company pays about $12,760 in back taxes and fees and passes a site inspection. Once both are done, the renewal clears on its own, without the Assembly having to vote again.

The licensee is AK Legend, LLC, which grows under the name AK Legend Gardens in Midtown. The Finance Department is holding its certification over the unpaid debt, and a required site inspection hasn't been completed. The rest of the city's reviews are done, and the marijuana land use permit is approved.

Tuesday's meeting is the Assembly's last regular session before its Sept. 12 deadline to protest the license.
