Two men wounded in early Wednesday shooting on Anchorage's Pine Street; no arrests
Two men were shot early Wednesday in the 800 block of Pine Street in Anchorage, the Anchorage Police Department said. Both were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting at about 1:50 am and found two adult men with gunshot wounds, according to the department's incident notice. No arrests have been made, and the shooting remains under investigation. Police have not said what led to it.
Police are asking anyone with information, including surveillance footage of the area, to call Police Dispatch at 3-1-1 (option 1) or 907-786-8900 (option 0).
The department said it flew a drone to assist with the investigation. It posts public notices of drone use on a running drone deployment page. Those notices list 26 deployments from Sept. 13 to Oct. 24. The first, on Sept. 13 and 14 in the 1900 block of East 37th Avenue, was for an officer-involved shooting, when drones were used to clear a residence.
Three of the deployments came between Oct. 9 and Oct. 12, according to a department summary. In a notice covering two more on Oct. 17, near Kingston Drive and Notting Hill Drive and in the 500 block of East Northern Lights Boulevard, the department said neither was related to a major incident.
Alaska News reported Sept. 17 that the city had confirmed the department's manual drone log missed at least one deployment. At the time, the city was checking for other omissions and owed the Anchorage Assembly a revised report by Oct. 6.
