Police arrest three at Mountain View Elementary after early-morning alarms
Anchorage police arrested three people early Friday as they tried to leave Mountain View Elementary School after alarms went off, police said.
Officers were sent to the school around 4:17 am and found the three trying to flee, according to the police report.
Two of them are juveniles and were taken to the McLaughlin Youth Center, a state juvenile justice facility in Anchorage. The third, an 18-year-old, was taken to the Anchorage Correctional Center.
All three face charges of second-degree burglary, second-degree theft and third-degree criminal mischief. The court record lists the 18-year-old's charges as felonies. No court has ruled on them.
Under Alaska law, second-degree burglary means entering or staying in a building unlawfully with intent to commit a crime there. Police haven't said what was taken or damaged.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
