Two arrested after reported armed robbery at Big Lake campground

Three campers at Northshore Campground in Big Lake were robbed at gunpoint early Wednesday, and Alaska State Troopers arrested two Anchorage residents in connection with the crime, according to a trooper dispatch.

The Mat-Com dispatch center took the report on Aug. 12, 2026, at about 3:21 a.m., troopers said. The three campers told troopers a phone was taken during the robbery.

Troopers issued a be-on-the-lookout alert for the suspect vehicle. The Wasilla Police Department later found it at a Circle K on the Parks Highway in Wasilla and detained everyone inside.

Troopers said the investigation identified the passenger, Koby Hill, 18, of Anchorage, and the driver, a 17-year-old from Anchorage, as the people who carried out the robbery. Both face charges of first-degree robbery, three counts of third-degree assault and third-degree theft. Hill was booked into the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility. The 17-year-old was booked into the Division of Juvenile Justice facility in Palmer.

The charges are accusations. Both are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. The dispatch reflects the trooper account of the incident and includes no statement from the accused or their attorneys.
