Anchorage Assembly set to OK liquor renewals for 13 businesses, hold two
The Anchorage Assembly is scheduled to vote Wednesday, Nov. 4, on letting liquor license renewals for 13 businesses go forward without a city objection.
They are Humpy's Great Alaskan Alehouse, Los Arcos, The Spare Room, Piper's Restaurant & Lounge, Umami BBQ, Golden Gate Restaurant, The Dirty Apron, Alaska Burger & Brew Downtown, Rice Garden, Allocated, North Pole Liquor II, the Buckaroo Club and G Building.
None of them owe city taxes, and each has its required land-use permit and sign-offs from health, fire, land use and building safety officials, according to a memo from Municipal Clerk Jamie Heinz.
Two other renewals would be held. The Assembly will consider conditional protests against the Eagle River Alehouse, which the clerk reports owes city taxes, and the Crazy Horse, which lacks fire department certification. A conditional protest holds a renewal until the business meets the requirement.
The Assembly will also consider waiving protest of a new wholesale license for Columbia Distributing.
The city's deadline to protest is Nov. 7, and Wednesday is the Assembly's last regular meeting before then. The state Alcoholic Beverage Control Board has several of the renewals on its Nov. 17 agenda, but it won't act on them unless the city waives its right to protest.
