Ketchikan Gateway Borough opens candidate filing for October election
The Ketchikan Gateway Borough will accept candidate filings in August for seats on the Borough Assembly, Borough Mayor, and Ketchikan Gateway Borough School District Board of Education. The regular borough election takes place the first Tuesday of October.
Candidates need to submit a declaration of candidacy with at least 10 signatures from qualified borough voters to the Borough Clerk's Office. The filing period runs from 8:00 a.m. on August 1 through 5:00 p.m. on August 25. Each candidate must also file a current Alaska Public Offices Commission Public Official Financial Disclosure Statement with the Clerk.
The Borough Clerk's Office will issue nominating petitions starting July 1, 2026. Polling places across precincts in Ketchikan, North Tongass, Saxman, and South Tongass will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on election day.
