Assembly candidate Berga discloses North Slope job, Kenai Fish stake

Nathan Berga, a candidate for the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly, disclosed North Slope oilfield income and ownership of a Soldotna fishing business in a financial filing submitted Monday to the Alaska Public Offices Commission.

State law requires assembly members to declare a substantial financial interest before an official action and ask to be excused from voting. It does not bar candidates with business ties from serving.

Berga's filing shows he earned between $50,000 and $100,000 managing the drilling support division on the North Slope for MagTec Alaska from January through May 2025. He also holds an ownership interest in Kenai Fish, LLC, in Soldotna. He and his spouse, Amy Berga, own property in Kasilof. The filing reports Permanent Fund Dividends of $1,000 to $2,000 for Berga, his spouse and a child, lists Vanguard fund interests, and discloses a debt to First National Bank. The report covers 2025.

Assembly candidate Larry Anthony filed his disclosure the same day. School board candidate Todd Brigham filed Aug. 30. Borough elections are Oct. 6.
