Two candidates file on the last day for Kenai Peninsula Borough offices

Teresa May Mullican and Tamara Fletcher filed for Kenai Peninsula Borough offices on Aug. 31, the final day of the borough's filing period, and registered their campaigns with the Alaska Public Offices Commission the same day.

Mullican's registration lists a borough assembly candidacy. Fletcher's lists a service area board.

One assembly seat, District 1 in Kalifornsky, has been vacant, and the assembly took up applications to fill it in August. Mullican was among the applicants. The seat carries a one-year term ending in November 2027.

Candidates have until Sept. 7 to withdraw. Voter registration for the election closes Oct. 4.
