A truck troopers say was stolen collided head-on with a dump truck on Holmes Road in North Pole on Saturday morning.

Troopers got the report around 10 a.m. Sept. 12. Their investigation determined Charles Hills had stolen a truck and then hit the dump truck, according to troopers, who arrested him on charges of first-degree vehicle theft and driving under the influence. He was taken to the Fairbanks Correctional Center.

Troopers did not say whether anyone was hurt, and did not identify the dump truck's driver or the stolen truck's owner.

The charges against Hills are accusations, not findings of guilt. The account comes from troopers alone; no response from Hills or his attorney appears in the record.
