Metal artwork by Taylor Buxton, a lifelong Alaskan artist, is on display in the Fairbanks City Hall Council Chambers through Nov. 20, according to Fairbanks Arts. The show opened with a First Friday reception Friday, Nov. 6, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm, where visitors could meet the artist.

Buxton works under the name Vibrance Metal Art. The City of Fairbanks said his pieces draw on Alaska's landscapes, from glowing auroras to striking mountain scenes. Fairbanks Arts describes the work as combining rigid metal with bright color and refined technique.

The exhibit is free to visit, and original work is for sale, Fairbanks Arts said. Its online store listed 10 of Buxton's pieces on Nov. 7, priced from $743 to $3,375.

First Friday is a monthly arts tradition in Fairbanks, with exhibit openings and receptions on the first Friday of each month. Fairbanks Arts describes gallery hopping as a longstanding Fairbanks tradition. The group was founded in 1966 as the Alaska Association for the Arts, and the Fairbanks City Council recognized it as the city's official community arts agency in 1989.

City Hall, at 800 Cushman St., is open Monday through Friday, except city-observed holidays. The city lists Veterans Day, Nov. 11, among its observed holidays this year.
