Haida fashion designer Dorothy Grant signs her career monograph at Alaska State Museum Friday from 4 to 5 pm during First Friday, with free museum admission from 4 to 7 pm.

World-renowned Haida fashion designer Dorothy Grant will sign copies of her career monograph at the Alaska State Museum Friday during First Friday programming.

Grant will appear in person from 4 to 5 pm to sign "Dorothy Grant: An Endless Thread," the first book-length survey of her four-decade career building Haida fashion. Books are $40 and scarves $60; cash is preferred. The signing coincides with extended museum hours and free admission from 4 to 7 pm.

The monograph documents Grant's work since her 1989 "Feastwear" collection debuted. It includes new photographs of her garments modeled in studio and natural settings in Vancouver and Haida Gwaii, early sketches, traditional button robes, and spruce-root weaving alongside personal stories. Essays by Royal BC Museum Curator India Rael Young, curator and artist Kwiaahwah Jones, Haida Gwaii Museum Executive Director Taa.uu 'Yuuwans Nika Collison, and Haida repatriation specialist Sdahl Ḵ'awaas Lucy Bell provide context.

The museum is also hosting "Dorothy Grant Retrospect: Raven Comes Full Circle," an exhibition of Grant's work spanning traditional regalia and contemporary fashion.
