The Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development will hold a career expo for veterans in Anchorage on Nov. 10, the day before Veterans Day.

The Veteran Career Expo runs from 1 to 4 pm at the Muldoon Family Center. It's aimed at veterans, transitioning service members and other job seekers. "Everyone is welcome!" the department's flyer says.

Job seekers can meet employers who are actively hiring, explore career paths and learn about services for veterans, according to the flyer.

Alaska has the highest share of veterans of any state. More than 58,910 veterans lived here, 11% of the adult population, according to 2023 census estimates cited in the department's latest resource book.

Veterans get priority for services at every state job center. In the 2025 fiscal year, 1,213 veterans received help from job center staff, according to the resource book. Specialists who work with veterans facing significant barriers to employment are based at the Anchorage Midtown, Mat-Su and Fairbanks job centers.

The department is offering 50 booths to employers this year, and its employer flyer urges them to register early.

The department's annual veterans job fair has been one of the largest in Alaska, according to the resource book. Last year's, held Nov. 5 at the Alaska Airlines Center, was billed as featuring more than 100 employers, education and training providers and apprenticeship programs.
