Six Nome seats are open this fall, with a Sept. 1 filing deadline

Six Nome seats go before voters this fall, and residents who want to run have until 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, to file as candidates.

The open seats are two City Council seats (three-year terms), two Utility Board seats (one two-year, one three-year), and two School Board seats (one three-year, one one-year). Candidates file with the City Clerk's Office; forms are available at City Hall, 443-6663.

Nome's municipal election falls on Oct. 6 this year. Both precincts vote at Old St. Joe's, 407 Bering Street, and voters must register with the state at least 30 days beforehand.
