Filing for four Bethel city council seats closes at 4 p.m. Thursday, the last chance to get on the ballot for the city's Oct. 6 municipal election. Candidates file a declaration of candidacy with the City Clerk's Office at City Hall. All four seats carry terms ending in October 2028, and Bethel does not use ranked choice voting.

Alaska News previously covered Bethel Mayor Rose "Sugar" Henderson's letter of intent to run for a council seat in the October election.

For voters, the deadline to register or update registration is Sept. 6.
