Sitka Harbor Office closes at noon Friday, reopens Monday
Boat owners and commercial fishers in Sitka will lose walk-in harbor service for the weekend beginning at noon Friday. Calls to the office will not be answered.
The City and Borough of Sitka Harbor Office, at 617 Katlian Avenue, closes at noon Friday, Aug. 7, and reopens at 8 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, the city said in a public service announcement. Walk-in services will not be available during the closure, and Harbor Office phones will not be answered.
The city directed anyone needing immediate assistance to call the on-duty Harbor cell phone at 907-738-0835.
The office normally keeps hours of 8am to 4pm., Monday through Friday. Moorage questions, permits, mail and dockside help ordinarily run through the Katlian Avenue counter.
The city's published harbor regulations state that Sitka's harbormaster is on duty seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The announcement gave no reason for the early closure and listed no other changes to harbor operations. Regular office hours resume Monday.
