Multiple crashes in Turnagain Pass slow Seward Highway traffic Friday
Alaska 511 issued a high-importance alert Friday afternoon for multiple crashes and adverse highway conditions in the Turnagain Pass area of the Seward Highway.
The alert reported several emergency vehicles in the area and told drivers to expect delays and possible highway closures. It was set to run from 12:32 pm to 3:31 pm.
The alert didn't say how many vehicles were involved or whether anyone was hurt.
Turnagain Pass is a mountain pass on the Seward Highway about 60 miles south of Anchorage, near Mile 69. A collision closed both directions of the highway there in July.
Drivers heading between Anchorage and the Kenai Peninsula can check current conditions on Alaska 511 before they leave.
