Water flows over Seward Highway near mile 13 north of Seward, Alaska 511 reports
Water is flowing over the Seward Highway in both directions between mile 12.5 and mile 15, according to a report Alaska 511 posted about 10:30 am Friday.
The flooding is centered near mile marker 13, by Grouse Creek Road, according to the Alaska 511 listing. Seward Highway mileposts count up from Seward, so the stretch is about 12 to 15 miles north of town on the Kenai Peninsula.
The highway is not fully closed, but drivers traveling between Seward and Anchorage should expect water on the pavement through that stretch. The state transportation department, which posted the alert, has not said what caused the flooding or how long it will last.
Alaska 511 is telling drivers to use caution, avoid entering flowing water, slow down for highway workers and obey any posted traffic signs.
