Two drivers hospitalized after four-vehicle crash at Seward Highway mile 74
Two drivers were taken to an Anchorage hospital after four vehicles collided at mile 74 of the Seward Highway on Thursday, Oct. 1, Alaska State Troopers said. Troopers described both drivers' injuries as non-life-threatening.
Mile 74 is near the bottom of the highway's climb to Turnagain Pass, about a mile south of Ingram Creek and about 5 miles south of the turnoff to Portage and Whittier. Seward Highway mileposts count up from Seward.
A man driving a red Toyota Prius southbound lost control of his car, troopers said. The report came in at 1:13 pm. Rain mixed with snow at the time, leaving standing water on the roadway, according to the trooper dispatch report.
The other vehicles were a silver GMC Yukon, a brown Volkswagen van and a gray Volkswagen Tiguan. The injured drivers were the man in the Prius and the driver of the Tiguan.
Troopers' A Detachment posted the report Tuesday. The investigation is ongoing.
