Ketchikan's city filing window has closed, and voter registration ends Sept. 6

Ketchikan's filing window for the October election closed Monday, and the city has not published a list of who is running for council.

Three filings are on the record. Ashley Snyder filed campaign registration paperwork Wednesday for a City Council run, and Judy Zenge filed a letter of intent for council on Aug. 24. Kathy Bolling filed Aug. 23 for the Ketchikan Gateway Borough Assembly, a different body.

More paperwork will keep arriving. City rules give candidates seven days after filing a declaration of candidacy with the clerk to file their campaign registration, so registrations can land after the filing deadline has passed.

Voters must register by Sunday, Sept. 6. Early voting runs Sept. 21 through Oct. 5 at the City Clerk's Office and the Borough Clerk's Office.

The Oct. 6 ballot also carries the question of whether to transfer the Ketchikan Public Library from the city to the borough.
