Juneau hunters can take two low-cost Fish and Game classes this August

Fish and Game is running two hands-on classes for Juneau hunters this month, and they're a bargain. Fifteen dollars gets you three hours of scope-mounting instruction; $25 buys a full day learning how to handle a day hunt that turns into a night stuck outside.

The scope class is Aug. 11, from 5 to 8 p.m., covering how to pick, mount, zero and troubleshoot a rifle scope, hands-on. The wilderness survival class, Basics of Wilderness Survival in Southeast Alaska, runs Aug. 29 from 9 to 4, on what to pack and what to do if you end up spending an unplanned night in the woods.

Both are at the Juneau Hunter Education Shooting Complex on Montana Creek Road, and both are open to anyone 12 and up. Spots are limited, so sign up through the Alaskans Afield Juneau page.
