Two hands-on hunting classes are open in Juneau, and seats are going fast

For Juneau hunters who'd rather learn a rifle from someone standing next to them than from a video, there are two chances this summer — and both are nearly full.

Fish and Game's Alaskans Afield program is running a Basic Rifle class on Saturday, Aug. 1, a full day for $64, and a shorter Scope Mounting session the evening of Tuesday, Aug. 11, for $15, covering how to mount, zero, and troubleshoot a scope.

Both are held at the Hunter Education Shooting Complex on Montana Creek Road, and both are open to anyone 12 and up.

As of now the rifle class has seven spots left and the scope class eight. Registration is open through the Alaskans Afield Juneau page.
