Gardeners around Juneau should cover tender plants overnight. The National Weather Service has issued a frost advisory for Friday morning, from 1 to 9 a.m., with temperatures dropping to about 35 degrees. Uncovered plants could be killed.

The advisory covers Juneau, Yakutat, Eastern Chichagof Island and Glacier Bay, including Tenakee Springs.

It may be one of the last. The weather service treats Sept. 15 as the end of Southeast's growing season and stops issuing frost and freeze advisories after that. This is at least the second in the region this month, after one for Yakutat on Sept. 3.

Friday itself looks fine once the cold passes: sunny, with a high near 65.
