Frost advisory for Anchorage and the Mat-Su early Tuesday

Frost could kill uncovered plants early Tuesday in the colder parts of Anchorage and the Matanuska Valley, where the National Weather Service expects temperatures as low as 29 degrees between 2 am and 9 am. Gardeners have Monday to cover anything tender.

Most of Anchorage and the valley should stay above freezing. The cold pockets are the usual ones: Butte, Muldoon, Campbell Tract and the Eagle River Valley.

It is a few days early. Anchorage does not typically see temperatures drop into the 30s until around Sept. 5.
