Anchorage firm gets $77,900 more work at the Phoenix building it maintains

Two federal maintenance orders worth about $77,900 combined went this month to Tunista Logistics Solutions, an Anchorage company. The General Services Administration's Public Buildings Service awarded the firm $67,061 on Aug. 12 to repair or replace a barrier arm gate at the Phoenix Federal Building, 230 N. 1st Ave., and $10,821 on Aug. 13 for fire panel replacement and repair at the same address. The first order runs through Nov. 30; the second through Oct. 30.

Tunista already maintains the building. GSA hired it on Feb. 19 for operations and maintenance at the Phoenix Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse, a contract worth up to $6.2 million. That contract drew a single offer and was awarded sole source under 8(a), the federal program that reserves certain contracts for disadvantaged small businesses. The two August orders are tasks under it.

Both are recorded as delivery orders and listed as not available for competition, with no set-aside and no count of bidders, which is what task orders under a sole-source contract look like.

Tunista, registered at 5015 Business Park Blvd. in Anchorage, operates as part of Yulista Holding's base operations group. Federal records list the firm as Alaska Native corporation-owned and an 8(a) program participant.
