Aleut Corp's Skoey Vergen elected vice chair of the regional corporation association

Skoey Vergen, president of the Aleut Corporation since 2021, has been elected vice chair of the ANCSA Regional Association — giving Aleut a leadership seat at the table where the chief executives of Alaska's 12 Native regional corporations coordinate shared policy.

The association's board is made up of the presidents and CEOs of the 12 land-based corporations created under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act of 1971, which together are owned by more than 160,000 Alaska Native shareholders. The group works on state and federal policy, economic development, and the terms of ANCSA itself — positions that shape the dividends, jobs and land protections tied to member corporations statewide.

Vergen, who already served on the association's board, said his focus as vice chair is on turning collaboration into action and protecting "the foundations of ANCSA." He leads a corporation that serves more than 5,000 Unangax̂ shareholders and descendants, with businesses spanning government contracting, real estate, fuel, port services and energy.
