A tiny fire near Koyuk has smoldered under investigation for a month

A small wildfire about 51 miles northeast of Koyuk has been under investigation for more than a month, with no cause yet identified and no threat reported to homes or subsistence areas.

The Kilusiktok fire was first spotted June 25 and, as of a Wednesday update, measures less than a quarter-acre with moderate fire behavior — a small, slow burn rather than a spreading threat. State records list no cause, containment figure or evacuation orders.
