A Tazlina man faces domestic violence and attempted robbery charges

A 56-year-old Tazlina man was arrested last weekend after a reported assault along the Richardson Highway in the Copper River Valley, facing charges that include domestic violence.

Alaska State Troopers said they had probable cause to charge Edward Leblan with fourth-degree domestic violence assault and second-degree attempted robbery following the June 28 incident near mile 121. He was taken to the Glennallen trooper post without incident.

Domestic violence remains one of Alaska's most persistent problems — the state has long recorded some of the highest rates in the country — and troopers across its rural highway country respond to reports like this one regularly. The charges against Leblan are accusations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
