Chitina dip net permit holders must report online by Oct. 15

Every household that held a 2026 Chitina Subdistrict personal use dip net permit has until October 15 to file a harvest report online, including households that never fished or caught nothing. Miss that date and the Alaska Department of Fish and Game will deny the household a 2027 permit.

The fishery closed September 30 after a season of inseason adjustments on the Copper River, including a 96-hour opening in July instead of the typical 168. The 2026 Chitina Subdistrict regulations also list a potential $200 fine for failing to report.

Reports go through the ADF&G Harvest Reporting webpage or the department's mobile app. App users must sync the report (tap the two-arrows icon on the My Documents page, or swipe down to refresh) so it actually reaches the department. Permits delivered by mail or by hand will not be accepted, and the department directs anyone needing help to a local ADF&G office or to Assistant Area Management Biologist Scott Maclean in Glennallen, (907) 822-3309.

"Timely and accurate reporting of participation and harvest is necessary for the sustainable management of this personal use fishery," the release said.

The $15 permit is issued only once per household per year, so one missed report sidelines the whole household next season.
