A driver in a white Toyota Tacoma backed into a parked vehicle at a Fairbanks gas station Tuesday, Oct. 27, and left without giving any information to the vehicle's owner, Alaska State Troopers said.

Troopers responded at about 3:30 pm to the Circle K at Geist Road and Fairbanks Street after a report of a hit-and-run collision. Witnesses told troopers the Tacoma backed into the parked vehicle and then left the scene.

Troopers got surveillance footage from the business, and it backed up the witnesses' account, according to the troopers' daily dispatch. The video shows the pickup striking the parked vehicle before it drove away.

Troopers did not report any injuries or say how much damage the parked vehicle had. The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information can call the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks at 907-451-5100.

Tipsters who want to stay anonymous can use the AKTips smartphone app or the Alaska DPS Tips website. They can also text the keyword AKTips to 847411, followed by the tip. The tip system accepts photos and videos, and the department says it does not pass a tipster's contact information to troopers.

Troopers have asked the public for help with other Fairbanks hit-and-runs this fall. Alaska News reported Oct. 14 on a hit-and-run at the Sourdough Gas Station at Farmers Loop and the Steese Highway on Oct. 12, when a white pickup hit a woman's vehicle and drove off. In that case, troopers said the camera could not capture the license plate, and they said Oct. 14 the investigation was pending further leads.

In September, a driver hit a parked rental vehicle at the Turtle Club and left. Troopers said surveillance video showed a silver Chevrolet pickup, Alaska News reported Sept. 24.
