Driver unidentified after crash at Old Murphy Dome Road and Elliot Highway near Fairbanks

A vehicle with disabling damage was found at the junction of Old Murphy Dome Road and the Elliot Highway outside Fairbanks, and its driver was not there and has not been identified, Alaska State Troopers said.

Troopers responded Wednesday, Sept. 2, according to a dispatch posted Thursday morning by the Department of Public Safety, which filed it under D Detachment and listed the location as Fairbanks. The case number is AK26086691. The dispatch lists no injuries, no charges, and no description of the vehicle or driver, and troopers said the investigation is ongoing.

The dispatch classifies the crash only as a motor vehicle collision with damage, not as a hit-and-run. It does not say the driver fled. The state's crash-report manual defines disabling damage as damage that prevents a vehicle leaving under its own power.
