Troopers detain 49 people at one Wasilla house during a drug-warrant search

Alaska State Troopers and Wasilla Police detained and identified 49 people at a single Aspen Avenue home in Wasilla on Tuesday while serving a drug search warrant, troopers said.

One man was arrested at the scene: Joshua Powers, 35, of Wasilla, charged with fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance. A second man, Ramon Jimenez, 38, of Anchorage, ran on foot as officers arrived and was caught after a short pursuit; he was booked into Mat-Su Pretrial without bail on a federal arrest warrant.

Troopers said charges are being forwarded against numerous other people on weapons and controlled-substance counts, and that follow-up investigation into items found at the home is continuing, with more charges pending. The charges are accusations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Four trooper units took part alongside Wasilla Police: the Highway Interdiction Team, the Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit, the Alaska Airport Interdiction Team and Palmer Patrol. The dispatch doesn't describe what was found inside, the basis for the warrant, or how long those at the house were held.
