Troopers arrest man, 24, accused of attempted sexual assault, gunfire at Wasilla party

Alaska State Troopers arrested a 24-year-old man after, troopers say, he tried to sexually assault a juvenile at a Halloween party in Wasilla on Saturday and then fired a handgun several times inside the home.

Troopers responded at 5:23 pm Saturday to a 911 call about a disturbance involving a gun at a home in Wasilla, according to the agency's Daily Dispatch.

When they arrived, troopers said, they learned that during the party the man had tried to sexually assault a juvenile at the home. The juvenile refused his advances and asked him to leave, troopers said. The man then brandished a handgun and fired it multiple times inside the home, according to troopers.

Troopers did not report any injuries. The dispatch does not give the juvenile's age or say how many people were at the party.

The man was remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial. He is charged with attempted first-degree sexual assault, five counts of third-degree assault and one count of second-degree misconduct involving a weapon.

Troopers posted the account Sunday. The charges are accusations only, and the man is presumed innocent unless and until he is proven guilty in court.
