Troopers arrest man on second DUI charge after .240 breath test

A man was arrested on a DUI charge in Fairbanks on Friday after a breath test put him at three times the legal limit, Alaska State Troopers said.

Troopers stopped him after his vehicle failed to maintain its lane, according to the trooper dispatch. He showed signs of impairment and did poorly on field sobriety tests, and after his arrest he blew a 0.240. The legal limit is 0.08.

A records check showed it was his second DUI offense. He was taken to Fairbanks Correctional Center.

A second conviction carries at least 20 days in jail and a $3,000 fine, plus a year without a license and a year with an ignition interlock. The charge is an accusation, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
