Comment open on Pilot Station Airport permit for mail-delivery ATV storage

A shipping container holding an ATV that helps deliver mail in Pilot Station is at the center of a proposed five-year land permit at the village airport.

The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities has proposed permitting Parcel B, about 4,600 square feet, to Riverside Apartments, LLC, for a non-aeronautical use: a 20-by-8-foot conex container holding the ATV, which assists with delivering mail to the local post office when an agent is not available. Annual rent is about $676 plus other fees.

The department has separately proposed leases to the same company at St. Mary's Airport, for airplane storage and for air carrier and terminal use.

Competing applications or written comments must reach Erik Widman, Aviation Leasing, 2301 Peger Road, Fairbanks, by 4:30 p.m. Sept. 28, citing file ADA-72946. Only those who write in, and include a return address, will be told what the department decides.
