State moves to sell a second contractor gravel from one Dalton Highway pit

Alaska is preparing to sell Cruz Construction 7,500 cubic yards of gravel from a Dalton Highway pit it offered another company in July.

The Department of Natural Resources' Division of Mining, Land and Water posted the notice Monday, Aug. 24, for a material sale contract at Milepost 305.5. It is headed "Notice of Contract Issuance" but describes an intent to issue. It does not say how long the contract runs or what access and environmental conditions apply.

On July 2 the same office said it intended to give Quintillion Networks 20,000 cubic yards from the same designated site.

Cruz Construction's project page describes a $60 million state contract, May 2022 to September 2024, to rehabilitate and widen the Dalton between mileposts 289 and 305, including a new gravel pit. The notice does not tie that completed work to the new contract.
