Prince William Sound stays at one king a day through Sept. 15

Anglers fishing most Prince William Sound salt waters may keep one king salmon a day, and one in possession, through Sept. 15. That's down from the usual two per day and four in possession. Four spots are carved out, the Whittier, Cordova, Valdez and Chenega Terminal Harvest Areas, where the two-fish, four-in-possession limit still applies at any size.

The tighter limit lands just as kings are showing up. Fish and Game's Aug. 7 report calls king fishing fair to good for anglers putting in trolling time, with fish coming in near Pigot Bay in the northwest and around Orca Inlet in the southeast. Catch rates are good in the northeast part of the Sound, especially near Glacier Island, and a few kings are still being picked up at Cape Cleare on Montague Island by anglers working for coho.

A 2026 sport fishing license and king stamp are required.
