It's going to be a windy one across Anchorage and Turnagain Arm on Tuesday

It's shaping up to be a blustery day around Anchorage. Gusts of 40 to 50 mph are blowing across the Anchorage Hillside and along Turnagain Arm from Portage to Indian on Tuesday, with the strongest winds through the middle of the day and periods of rain mixed in, the National Weather Service says.

How hard it blows depends a lot on where you are. The Hillside and Turnagain Arm get the worst of it, with those 40-to-50 mph gusts; South and West Anchorage along the Arm aren't far behind. The Anchorage Bowl gets off easiest, and Palmer and Butte see gusts up to about 40. Forecasters say the wind should ease Tuesday night.

If you're driving or towing something tall like an RV or trailer, take it easy out there — and anything light left outside is liable to go for a walk. And don't get too comfortable when it settles: a second, stronger system is expected to move into Southcentral late in the week.
