Homer man arrested on 11 felony counts in $8,000 Anchor Point theft

A Homer man faces 11 felony counts after roughly $8,000 in tools, jewelry, an ATV and firearms taken from an Anchor Point property turned up for sale at a pawn shop, Alaska State Troopers said.

Troopers received the theft report on Sept. 15, according to dispatch AK26071952. The property was taken from inside a residence and shop on Old Sterling Highway.

Wyatt Stollar, 22, of Homer, was arrested Saturday and taken to Homer Jail without incident, troopers said.

Stollar is charged with eight counts of second-degree theft, six for firearms, and one count each of first-degree burglary, second-degree burglary and first-degree vehicle theft. A preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 30 in Kenai. The charges are accusations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Under Alaska's pawnbroker law, a police hold keeps the goods at the shop for up to 90 days. An owner must claim them in writing with proof of ownership and the police report, and may sue if unresolved after 10 days. The dispatch does not say whether the property has been returned.
