Troopers find two asleep in sedan towing stacked logs, cocaine in driver's lap

Troopers were driving near Skyline Drive in Soldotna about 3:53 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13, when they pulled alongside a black sedan towing a trailer stacked high with logs. Both the driver and a passenger were asleep in their seats, and the driver had a bindle of cocaine, a small folded paper packet, in his lap, the Alaska State Troopers daily dispatch says.

An Anchor Point man, 56, was arrested and remanded to Wildwood Correctional Complex on allegations of fifth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance and driving while license suspended, both misdemeanors. The dispatch is case AK26091009.

The dispatch lists no court date. It does not say whether the passenger faced charges. The charges are accusations, and the department says defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
