Free disability-rights clinic comes to Bethel June 24
People with disabilities in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta can get free, one-on-one guidance on their education and employment rights at a Client Assistance Program clinic in Bethel on Wednesday, June 24, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the AVCP Tugkar Conference Room, 570 3rd Avenue.
The clinic is aimed at students, families, educators and adults navigating vocational rehabilitation, though it's open to anyone. Staff can walk attendees through how to advocate for themselves in the VR process, what services the Rehabilitation Act entitles them to, and how to resolve disputes in an open case.
It's run by the Disability Law Center of Alaska — which operates the federally funded program for Alaskans seeking or receiving services through the state Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, tribal VR programs, or Centers for Independent Living — and co-hosted by the Association of Village Council Presidents.
