The At-Sea Processors Association will recruit seafood workers from 10 am to noon Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Anchorage Midtown Job Center. Hiring companies include American Seafoods, Arctic Storm, Coastal Villages Region Fund, Glacier Fish and Trident Seafoods.

Applicants must first apply to a company, preregister and complete a seafood orientation, held at 9 am Monday through Friday, according to the state job fair flyer.

Contracts run six weeks to four months, the flyer says. Work can run seven days a week during B Season. Pay is a share of the catch or a case rate. Room, board and transportation are provided after a worker completes a contract.

The association's five member companies operate 15 catcher-processor vessels, ships that catch and process fish at sea, in the Eastern Bering Sea pollock fishery. The association says that fishery accounts for more than a third of annual U.S. fishery landings.
