A hiring fair comes to the Fairbanks Job Center on Thursday

Job seekers can meet employers at a hiring fair Thursday at the Fairbanks Job Center, from 11 am to 3 pm.

The fair focuses on retail, grocery, restaurant and banking work, with Fred Meyer, Walmart, McDonald's, Raising Cane's, Key Bank and Northrim Bank among the employers expected. Organizers suggest bringing a resume, and copies can be printed on site.

It's the first of seven monthly fairs the center has planned through May, each on the last Thursday of the month. The next one, in October, moves to the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center.

One note for anyone on unemployment: keeping benefits requires registering in the state's AlaskaJobs system, and browsing it as a guest doesn't count.
