At-Sea Processors Association to hold Anchorage pollock hiring fair Oct. 29
The At-Sea Processors Association hires for Bering Sea pollock from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Oct. 29, at the Anchorage Midtown Job Center, 3301 Eagle St., Room 104. Contracts run six weeks to four months on a factory trawler or at a shore plant, paid by percentage of catch or case rate.
Applicants must pre-register and attend a seafood orientation, at 9 a.m. weekdays, before the event, the state flyer says. Pre-register at 907-269-4746. It directs applicants to apply on each company's website first and says hiring companies could include American Seafoods, Arctic Storm, Coastal Villages Region Fund, Glacier Fish and Trident Seafoods.
The association's five member companies operate 15 U.S.-flag factory trawlers in the Eastern Bering Sea pollock fishery, which it says is more than a third of U.S. fishery landings and 3 billion seafood meals a year. The job center's Seafood Employment Office has hosted similar At-Sea fairs before.
