An Anchorage cannabis grower's license hinges on a $12,761 tax bill, with tonight the deadline

An Anchorage marijuana grower could lose its license to keep operating unless it pays off a $12,761 municipal tax bill, and tonight is the Assembly's last scheduled meeting before the window to resolve it closes Sept. 12.

The grower, AK Legend Gardens, is up for renewal of its cultivation license, but the Assembly has moved to hold up both the municipal renewal and the state one until the company clears two conditions. It has to pay the past-due taxes, and it has to pass a site inspection by the city's land-use enforcement office. Those are the only two things left; the planning, fire and police departments have already signed off.

Once the taxes are paid and the inspection is done, the city can lift its hold and issue the renewal.
