Anchorage Assembly to weigh liquor permit for Courtyard by Marriott Midtown
Guests at the Courtyard by Marriott Midtown could buy drinks on site seven days a week under a permit the Anchorage Assembly is scheduled to take up Tuesday, Aug. 18.
The resolution would grant Anchorage MC Holding LLC an alcohol special land use permit for beverage dispensary tourism license number 6997 at 4900 A Street. The permit covers roughly 8,500 square feet of gross floor area in the I-1 light industrial district, west of A Street and north of West International Airport Road.
The Planning Department mailed 121 public hearing notices on July 1 and received no public comments. The Midtown Community Council did not comment, and reviewing agencies raised no opposition. The applicant owes no delinquent property taxes. Mayor Suzanne LaFrance's administration recommends approval.
Conditions require the licensee to file a notice of zoning action with the State Recorder's Office within 120 days and keep the conditions on site for public review. Failure to comply could lead to the permit being modified or revoked.
The Assembly will take public testimony at its Aug. 18 hearing and may approve, conditionally approve, or deny the permit.
