A downtown Anchorage race with trail miles and maybe a Denali view

Anchorage's Skinny Raven Half & 10K takes over the Delaney Park Strip this Sunday, July 19, sending runners out onto some of the city's favorite trails — with a shot at a Denali view on a clear day — before looping back to where they started at the Centennial Rose Garden.

There are two distances. The half marathon has an early start at 8 a.m. and a main wave at 9, and the 10K goes off at 9:20. Because everyone starts and finishes in the same downtown spot, it's an easy one for families and first-timers to spectate from a single bench — and Bike Anchorage is running a free bike valet for anyone who'd rather pedal in than park.

Every runner, in-person or virtual, gets the full haul: a long-sleeve tech shirt, a finisher medal, and a finisher glass, with a box lunch waiting for in-person finishers. Registration prices go up after 11:59 p.m. Thursday.
