A Wasilla man died early Tuesday when his motorcycle went out of control on a corner of Wasilla Fishhook Road and struck guardrail supports. His passenger survived with minor injuries.

Alaska State Troopers identified the rider as Colton Cline, 28, of Wasilla. Troopers responded to the crash near Pamala Drive at 1:50 am on Sept. 29, according to the troopers' daily dispatch.

Cline was riding a 2021 Suzuki northbound at a high rate of speed when he lost control entering the corner, troopers said. The motorcycle and Cline struck multiple guardrail supports. His passenger, an adult man, was thrown clear of the impact.

Cline was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital. Both riders wore helmets. Troopers said alcohol is not believed to be a factor, but speed and road conditions are.

Alaska recorded 10 motorcycle deaths in 2024, 14 percent of all traffic deaths in the state that year, according to the Alaska Highway Safety Annual Report.

Troopers said next of kin have been notified. The investigation remains open.
