Troopers say stolen truck hit dump truck head-on in North Pole

A truck troopers say was stolen collided head-on with a dump truck on Holmes Road in North Pole on Saturday morning. Troopers received the report of the crash at about 9:59 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026.

The investigation determined Charles Hills had stolen a truck and then collided with a dump truck, according to the D Detachment dispatch, case AK26090616. He was arrested on charges of first-degree vehicle theft and driving under the influence. Hills was remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center following the collision.

The dispatch does not say whether anyone was injured. It does not identify the dump truck's driver or the truck's owner.
